my room: kickin' back with Ryan Succup
by Jaclyn Bull
Riding in the passenger seat down Rosewood to get to football celeb Ryan Succop’s place made my stomach churn a bit for the fear of any awkwardness that I thought might occur. How wrong was I.
Driving past the bare trees and the leaf-filled yards, we pulled up to a corner lot with a large number of parked cars; the tan and brick house was your typical college student abode.
Opening the door with a smile and a group of friends, Succop introduced my roommate and me to his friends, his girlfriend and the rest of his house. The hardwood floors gave the house a nicer touch
The third-year finance and management student is currently trying to decide a minor and is involved with FCA along with football, and enjoys hunting and, of course, spending time with his girlfriend and friends.
“My favorite item in my room would have to be my Bible,” said Succop, for its “guidance and help in difficult situations.”
The set up was simple and his room clean. With a futon to the right of the doorframe and a small closet with a desk to the left, his room was small but suited him well. The futon was pretty comfy with a soft Gamecock blanket covering the back area. A large bureau was situated next to the wall between a window and the closet. Next to the futon, situated in the corner was a bookcase filled with a plethora of Carolina memorabilia, including two game balls Succop received.
“I only spend about four hours here, more or less, besides sleeping of course,” said Succop.
To add to his quaint room were a variety of photos on his wall, representing important occurrences or hobbies in his life. There were a few rifles and a fishing picture to represent his outdoorsy nature. Succop likes to hunt deer, duck and dove, but mainly only hunts deer and duck and has a camouflage jacket in his closet for the occasion. When asked what his room said about him, Succop responded that he’s “outgoing, spirited, and prideful.” I don’t blame him.
