Finding the right swimsuit for your body type

Warm weather is just around the corner, which means the hot sun, the beach, the ocean, and, of course, the often-dreaded swimsuit. If you are worried about what to wear or not wear this break, the best thing to do is pay attention to your own body. No matter what shape you have you can find a swimsuit that enhances your best features, without the anxiety of the itsy-bitsy-bikini.

Athletic/Boyish Shape:

  • Your body generally follows a straight line with your shoulders the same width as your waist and hips.
  • Wear a halter top to show off your toned arms.
  • Wear girly styles with bows or polka dots to help create the look of curves.

Pear Shape:

  • Your body is generally bigger on the bottom than it is on the top with your hips wider than your shoulders.
  • Wear a bright, detailed top to accentuate your bust, paired with a dark or solid colored bottom.
  • Make sure your bottom fits well around your hips.

Small Bust

  •  To create the illusion of a bigger bust, wear a top with a demi-cut bra in it, or wear a top with adjustable straps to help give yourself the amount of cleavage you want.
  • Horizontal lines also help create the look of a bigger bust.

Large Bust

  • Make sure your top has underwire support built into it.
  • Wear solid colors to not draw as much attention to your bust.
  • A halter top also helps support your bust as well as flatter your figure.

Short Torso/Legs

  • To lengthen your legs, wear bottoms that are cut higher on your thighs.
  • Wear a detailed, busier top to draw attention toward your upper body.
  • Avoid boy-cut shorts as they will make you look shorter.

Plus-Size

  • Wear a dark color one-piece swimsuit to elongate and slim your body.
  • Wear fabrics that are super stretchy to help with tummy control.
  • While strolling the beach, choose a bright-colored sarong to offset the dark color of your suit.
